We continue to develop and evaluate methods to improve the patient’s experience with colonoscopies, upper endoscopies and other GI procedures. We pride ourselves on our high colon polyp rate, which is consistently above the national average. Y. Joseph Usta, MD received his medical degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon in 2008 before completing a year of pancreatic cell transplant research at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona in 2009 – 2012. Dr. Usta stayed on for an additional year to become the “Chief Resident,” at which time the American College of Physicians presented him with the “Rising Star” award. He continued to rise in the field while completing a fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Arizona in 2013 – 2016. In his third year as a fellow, he was elected “Chief Fellow,” and completed advanced GI training in ERCP procedures. Dr. Usta is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology, and has served as an assistant professor at the University of Arizona and at the Creighton Medical School. He is extensively trained in all general GI procedures, and has specific interest in esophageal disorders. Dr Usta has numerous respected works published in the gastroenterology field, including research on the links between Agent Orange and Esophageal Cancer. Dr. Usta joined the gastroenterology practice of Eisenman and Eisenman, M.D., in 2017. He is fluent in Arabic, and his additional interests include fishing, kayaking, and spending time with his wife and young daughter. Dr. Y.
